Practice Time and Location
This group will ski 9-2:30Pm ( with a lunch break) and will participate in Club programming and events should be calendared with a focus on measurable skills in a fun, positive, age-appropriate athletic environment, emphasizing the development of the fundamental skiing skills of balance, agility, basic carving and coordination. Lots of at home skiing, games and team activities are encouraged for this group. U8s in NHARA are not eligible to participate in Open or Divisional races.
Equipment
Athletes must have one pair of SL or all-mountain skis which are tuned and boots that the athlete is able to flex/crush. CMCC and U.S. Ski & Snowboard require that all athletes wear helmets with hard ears. If you purchase a helmet, please make sure that it is FIS approved (look for the FIS official sticker on the helmet). Athletes are encouraged to ski with friends and family after the program ends each day. Having fun is an important element in the engagement of young athletes.
Memberships
U8 participants are required to have a U.S. Ski & Snowboard General Membership license. (https://usskiandsnowboard.org/membership).
Lift access is required and not included in the program cost. A season pass or daily lift tickets will be required: https://www.crotchedmtn.com/
Competitions
U8 non-scored competition (6 and 7 year-olds) is organized at your home area or close to home area for the season. U8s in NH are not eligible to participate in Open races or qualifying events. A USSA Competitor 10 & Under membership is required for participation in sanctioned skills events. A NHARA U10 membership is also required for participation in sanctioned skills events.
